Pygmy Date Palm

The Pygmy Date Palm (Phoenix roebelenii) is the most popular small palm in Philippine landscaping. Where the full-sized Date Palm makes a statement at grand entrances, the Pygmy Date Palm brings that same elegance to smaller spaces.

Growing Requirements

Sun: Adaptable. Grows well in partial shade to full sun. Partial shade produces softer, darker green fronds. Full sun is fine but fronds may yellow slightly.

Water: Moderate. Prefers consistent moisture but tolerates short dry periods. Does not like waterlogged soil.

Soil: Well-drained soil enriched with organic matter. Adapts to sandy or loamy soils.

Space: Allow 1.5-2m spacing between palms. Container growing requires a pot at least 40cm diameter for mature specimens.
